The Inner Girls Club

Meet Tracy, one of my inner girls. She's a 12 year old with a heart of gold, a sense of humor but a lot of burden on her shoulders.
This beauty is trying to navigate, diet culture, beauty standards, burdensome, narcissist, abusive parents and religious trauma. That's a lot for her. It would be a lot for anyone!
When we are children, our neurological systems are not fully formed. Abuse and trauma can cause a lot of us to have long term anxiety, stress and confusion. It's a fact that many of our life choices come from the traumas and experiences we had as children.
This beauty is very concerned about being a people pleaser.
She is concerned that her body is too big. Her mom said she's a lazy person but she's really just tired. She has had a lot on her plate for a long time.
I introduced you to her to tell you how eye opening it was as a grown woman to meet her. She's always been there, but she manifested as a "voice" or "direction". Her feelings of being lazy and too big drove much of my life choices.
Welcome to the Inner Girls Club. We all have inner children! Their experiences shape our decisions as we grow up!
As a coach and someone who has healed my trauma, I now FULLY understand the role these precious kids play in healing.
They need to be seen and parented. The Inner Girls Club is my way of acknowledging the support and burden they have taken on. When we tend to these kiddos, we can move forward to elevate and heal our wounds.
Example: My entire life was consumed by disordered eating. I grew up with mother wounds, and diet culture in the home. We shared diet pills, diets, and full cakes. As I am a grown up, I can hear my 12 year old inner girl saying negative things that have no bearing in science or fitness. She wants to drive my self esteem based on how she felt in the 1980s!
Our inner girls don't know what year it is. They are stuck in that time that they are kids.
This is truly one reason why so many people CANNOT lose weight or keep it off. They are simply white knuckling to override the inner kiddo's leadership! We will work on this! It's something we can do to rewire frayed neurological systems. It's a process but it's a healthy, safe process and it works.
We can unburden these kiddos and elevate our understanding of OURSELVES. We can begin to grow even more and they can rest.
The IGC is my way of celebrating, not scolding. We will work on how to help them find peace and YOU find growth.
